Why I hate teachers telling me to read

Okay, so, pretty much everyone who goes to an american high school, has to take English. And in English class, we have to read books. Wow. surprise surprise. I personally love reading. I read books all the time. ALL THE TIME. I read the hunger games in a day. and half of the next book in the next day.

So when it comes to this, I bet you're asking, what are you complaining about?? You love reading, so.. uh what's the problem?

My problem isn't that my teachers make me read, its what they make me read. Or in some cases, what they don't let me read.

So for this quarter, I had to read a classic. I didn't have too much of a problem with this, I was just going to read a book that my sister bought me for Christmas, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. I love Huck Finn, but I've never read the book. Seen the play, but not read the book. So I was just going to read Huck Finn.

BUT NO

My teacher told me that I couldn't read Huckleberry Finn. Why? Because we MIGHT read it next year.

Great. okay.. Thanks. I can't read this book because maybe we might read it next year. Does that even make sense??

Even if we do read it next year, what's so bad about reading it twice? Really??

Arg.
